Local Buying

Local Money motivates you to buy local whenever you can.   Big box discount stores may be cheap but they’re also a huge drain on your local economy.  They suck money out of your community and use it to build new big box stores for growing middle classes overseas.  The way to make your money work for you and your neighbors is simple in concept: Buy local, buy small, buy often.

Local Money supports a sustainable local food system.  Industrialized agriculture, like big-box retailing, has delivered cheap calories through a government subsidized system but the result is an epidemic of obesity and recurring contamination scares. Your local farmer’s market is the perfect place to start supporting a local sustainable food system.  Talk to the vendors and find out where they are from, what they grow, and most important, sample a bunch of different food offerings.
